So, first off, here the original post:
It's been a while since then, but I've finally managed to set times that I would like to hold the speakeasy. I plan on having them at 4 PM PDT - 6PM PDT on Wednesdays & Fridays. I will be asking those with significantly high ranked life skills (anything past rank E that you plan on focusing on) to be present at least one of the hours for the speakeasy. Of course, charging for your services is perfectly fine.
The first hour will be mainly to function as a service bazaar of sorts, with composed music. The second hour will most likely be some sort of event, with small prizes for the winner. The events themselves will most likely be something to do with the speakeasy (or the 1920s) and the prizes a Mabinogi equivalent of a 1920s world item. However, the events themselves will be clarified later. Who knows, I'll probably be asking you guys to come up with part of the story yourselves.
Now then, are there any objections/questions/comments/concerns?
(On another note, I've gotten Storycircle interested.)
Okay, so it's been a long time coming, but here's the lodown. When G2 comes out, I plan on renting a house so that we can turn it into a coffee shop / speakeasy. However, before I go any more into detail, I believe I should answer that burning question: what is a speakeasy?
During the 1920s, also known as the Roaring Twenties, the American economy (and really the rest of the world) was booming. After such a long freeze of trade during World War I, trade has begun again. Yet, despite all the success, something was seriously wrong. Alcohol was outlawed! So, for those who needed their alcohol fix, they turned to hidden nightclubs in which they could get bootleg alcohol, and maybe a little entertainment in between. Yes, these were the speakeasies, so named because one could relax and "speak easy" while there.
Which boils down to our current project. I want to make a Chocoholics version of the 1920s speakeasy, where we can serve food (cooked meals), chat in a nice atmosphere, and play a little music that's generally not found in the Tir music scene. It's like your neighborhood coffee shop, only better.
And how would that be better, you ask? Well, seeing as how "alcohol" was prohibited during the time, some of the more righteous police would go and crack down on these speakeasies. Hence, we could have other guilds come in every so often as police, or bootleggers or whatnot and stir up the place. For example, police could come in and try and "take away" all of the criminals (a game of tag), kidnapping by rival gangs, etc.
I've already sent Genesis some of the ideas via Satsuki, and am in the process of presenting my idea to Tolinar. Of course, I'm pretty sure that everyone here is up for the idea, but i need to make sure. Are you guys ready to take on what can possibly be an overwhelming task? After all, these will be things I need...
New Music Compositions every week
Tents for publicity (which we need now anyways)
Participation
...along with other things I've yet to think of.
It's a bit daunting, but I think we can do it. After all, I really would like to see us make a name for ourselves, and this gives us a perfect chance to.
